At Port Jackson Partners I most appreciate having access to the
resources, support and opportunity to have real impact with people
and organisations. I particularly enjoy transitioning from an
outside consultant to a trusted advisor and thought partner, or the
moment a client sincerely thanks me for assisting them navigate a
tricky commercial or political situation. Most of all, I feel
privileged that I can have real impact at such an early stage in my
career.
A unique culture
At PJPL we are an eclectic mix of individuals from a range of
backgrounds. That said, we also share some important common values.
On a professional level, we are energised by challenging problems
and a desire to help others and to have real impact. On a personal
level, we respect others opinions, are open to new ideas and place
high value on family and friendships. These traits collectively
manifest in a firm committed to:
- delivering the highest quality support to clients,
- creating a cohesive work and social culture
- promoting rapid development of employees
- protecting work / life balance
Collaborative and fun
The people at PJPL are incredibly intelligent and
accomplished, but unlike some other professional services firms,
there is a complete lack of arrogance.
At PJPL, good ideas are good ideas regardless of the source; it
is common to see senior people debate and discuss ideas with
graduates. Just as important, there is a good sense of fun! I enjoy
the same jovial banter with some Directors and Principals as I do
with colleagues of equal tenure.
Committed to finding balance
In the work we do, travel and long hours are sometimes
unavoidable. However, the Partners are committed to life outside
work (both family and personal pursuits) and expect no different
for their employees. Moreover, they are attentive to the needs of
the consultant group and will manage client expectations
accordingly. During my four years at PJPL, I can say that there
have been many busy weeks, but that serious weekend work has only
been required a handful of times.
Rapid development and support
I joined Port Jackson Partners as a fresh-faced graduate in
2007. Since that time the firm has fostered my rapid development.
Most recently I have managed combined internal and client project
teams, run multiple full-day workshops with senior management,
advised clients interstate and overseas without on-the-ground
Partner support, co-authored public reports and collaborated with
leading academics on topics ranging from negotiation strategy to
economic scenario development. I have been offered full-time
positions by a number of clients. The Partners are currently
supporting my application efforts to study an MBA at a top-tier
university overseas.
Outside interests
My sporting interests include skiing, tennis, social football
and the occasional sprint triathlon or fun run. Most recently I
have enjoyed competitive ocean swims. I am an active member of the
Economic Society and have a history of involvement with the
Multiple Sclerosis Society of Australia.
