Back to people listing

Coming out of my University degree, I felt that I was passionate about many things and as such, was not inclined to limit myself to any single field. Management Consulting, therefore, was always extremely appealing to me due to the varied nature of the work and its exposure to challenging and high-level problems. In particular, I was attracted to Port Jackson Partners because of its unique, partner-intensive model, which I feel effectively nurtures and develops a new graduate, making it a fantastic place to start a career.

Remarkable place to start a career with unparalleled opportunities

It is hard to believe that within my first 6 months of full-time work, I was given the opportunity to present part of an extensive Strategic Plan to the management team of an ASX-100 listed company

At PJP, we work in small, partner-intensive teams and are exposed to challenging, strategic problems. As such, the learning curve is steep and the immediate responsibility is high.

Within the first few months of working at PJP, I was attending meetings with CEO's and senior management from all levels of the company. I was empowered with the responsibility to take ownership of workstreams, and at the same time, was free to harness the experience and expertise of the Partners. At PJP, there are boundless opportunities to personally take charge and excel, as well as exposure to a unique group of accomplished mentors within the firm who are more than happy to help employees develop and realise their full potential.

Close-knit, familial culture

It may sound unbelievable, but the people I work with and interact with on a daily basis at PJP are like a second family to me. Not only does PJP attract and recruit individuals who are intelligent, stimulating and passionate, they are also incredibly friendly and down to earth. The culture at PJP was first apparent to me when I attended a PJP careers session at UNSW. From the way a Partner would interact and chuckle with a young analyst like old buddies, I immediately sensed the warm, caring atmosphere that clearly differentiates PJP from other firms.

Flexible and accommodating Partnership

Port Jackson Partners very readily caters to each employee's individual needs. When I first joined PJP, the partners were extremely flexible, allowing me to work part-time whilst I finished my last year of University. They offered me more than enough study leave, and even encouraged me to take a 4-month break to travel before I started full-time work!

Having worked at PJP for nearly a year now, this intimacy and care for the individual has not changed, but actually expanded. The firm actively schedules monthly, one-on-one catch-ups between analysts and Partners to encourage people at all levels to get to know each other.

Focus on both professional and personal development

As well as being a great place to develop professionally, PJP also focuses on the personal development of its employees. The firm regularly hosts "Beers with the Boss" sessions where partners are free to talk about an area that they're passionate about, inside or outside the work environment. So far this year, such sessions have ranged from "Life, Relationships and other Complications", to "Meditation and the Science of the Mind", to "Building Personal Wealth".

Outside interests

In my free time, I enjoy eating and cooking. My other interests include learning languages, travelling and interior design. I am also an avid Manchester United supporter.
