Developing leaders
Port Jackson Partners develop leaders, both within and outside the practice. PJP alumni lead major organisations, and create new ones. Whether they remain in Australia or move abroad, PJP alumni remain connected to the practice and build lasting relationships with one another.
Over the history of Port Jackson Partners, only two Directors
have ever left the firm, moving onto prominent leadership roles in
private and public sectors in Australia:
- Professor Frederick G Hilmer AO founded Port
Jackson Partners with Terrey Arcus in 1991 and is currently the
President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales,
a position he has held since June 2006. Prior to his role at UNSW,
Fred was the CEO of John Fairfax Holdings Limited from 1998 to
2005.
- Rod Sims was a Director of Port Jackson
Partners for 17 years and is currently the Chairman of the
Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), a position
he has held since August 2011. During his time at Port Jackson
Partners, Rod was also the Chairman of the Independent Pricing and
Regulatory Tribunal (IPART), Commissioner of the National
Competition Council, and the member of Research and Policy Council
of the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.
