Daniel Turley

Daniel holds a First Class Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New South Wales. Daniel was a recipient of a Co-op Scholarship, undertaking 18 months industrial training while completing his degree. Daniel is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment with the Securities Institute of Australia.

Since joining Port Jackson Partners in 2004, Daniel has worked in the energy, wholesale distribution, manufacturing and construction materials industries.



Examples of recent work

  • Worked with a large energy company to improve its competitive position within the industry structure, including:

    • Understanding the competitive landscape within the industry

    • Evaluating the strategic rationale for vertical integration through a joint venture to mitigate risk and create growth options

    • Developing a road map for deal negotiations, including a valuation of the business and assessment of key commercial terms

  • Assisted a wholesale distribution company to develop strategies to improve their existing businesses and promote future growth, including:

    • Investigating options to rationalise and optimise their inventory holding and distribution network

    • Understanding the role of generalist and specialist retailers in serving key customer segments

    • Tuning organisational accountabilities and incentives to encourage improved performance

  • Worked with an Australian construction materials company to evaluate strategies for building a business in South-East Asia, including:

    • Understanding the structure of the industry and the attractiveness of the future positioning of the business

    • Understanding potential risks and assessing their impact on business value

    • Developing a regional strategy to manage risks and improve performance through leveraging existing positions in the region

  • Assisted a growing confectionery business to develop a strategic plan to sustain their existing performance and prioritise future growth options
